A school bus crash in Adams Township, Butler County, sent several children to Pittsburgh hospitals Monday afternoon.
The secondary bus from Mars Area School District crashed over an embankment on Route 228 near Luciano’s Brick Oven Restaurant shortly after 2:30 p.m.
Six students were taken by ambulance to a hospital, while others went to the hospital by bus, the school district said.
Two patients were taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, according to UPMC spokeswoman Wendy Zellner.
n an effort to keep you informed, Mars Area School District is following up on its reports of an accident involving Secondary School Bus #4 that occurred along Route 228 at approximately 3 p.m. today (Monday, Sept. 24).
As per district procedure, 911 was immediately called and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. All students were examined by emergency medical personnel and their parents were contacted directly.
After their parents were contacted, six (6) students were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The remaining students were either released to their parents or transported by bus to the UPMC Passavant Hospital – Main.
